In support of protests to combat racism and the violence of American police officers against the black community, the mayor of Washington DC, Muriel Bowser renamed the section of 16th street in front of the White House, Black Lives Matter Plaza, this Friday June 5.
Muriel Bowser has not only changed the name of this street with the symbolic slogan #BlackLivesMatters taken up by the protesters outraged by the death of Georges Floyd on May 25 at the hands of the Minneapolis police. The latter also contacted a collective of urban artists who painted in capital letters the slogan on one of the arteries, that of the section of 16th street in front of the White House.
Aware of the gratuitous violence suffered by the black community, the Democratic mayor of Washington DC believes that activism on the part of both can make a difference. His statement which encourages rallies and solidarity in proof.

“Our DC power is what we are as a city. We introduce ourselves, we get along and we hold hands in difficult times. Count on each other and on us to move our country forward. On my commitment to take steps to continually improve relations between the police and the community. ”
Bowser added: “We know that violence will not solve violence. Hatred will not chase hatred. Whatever the question, love is always the answer. ”

Note that the slogan, which is painted in yellow, is 200 meters long and expresses the support of Mayor Muriel Bowser to the black community, victim of police bullying for years.
