Chaos in Haiti: Temporary closure of services at the French and United States embassies

The French embassy in Port-au-Prince announced the closure of visa services and the French administration for this Monday, March 4. At the same time, all appointments planned at the American embassy in Tabarre are also canceled due to the ongoing climate of violence in the Haitian capital.
Port-au-Prince, March 4, 2024.- The climate of tension that reigns in the country impacts the functioning of several institutions and sectors of activity. “As a precautionary measure, the visa and French administration services of the French Embassy in Port-au-Prince will be closed to the public tomorrow, Monday March 4, 2024.” This is what the French Embassy announced last weekend in a notice on its site.
The American embassy in Port-au-Prince also informs that the appointments are canceled. This, for the next three days, according to a note from the embassy reported by the Miami Herald.
It should be noted that the town of Tabarre where the American embassy is located is under the control of armed individuals. Sporadic gunfire rings out throughout the day in the area.
